Sentinel Peaks
The Cataclysm & The War of the Lance
The current year for our Dragonlance campaign is set during 351 AC "After Cataclysm".
Inspired By Trampas Whiteman

The Sentinel Peaks form the northernmost reaches of the Kharolis Mountains, a rugged chain of ridges and crags that stand watch over the lands of Abanasinia. Though modest in height when compared to the towering mountains farther south, the peaks are no less imposing to those who dwell in their shadow.

Their steep slopes, rocky escarpments, and narrow valleys create a natural barrier that has shaped travel and settlement in the region for centuries. Several important passes wind through the Sentinel Peaks, serving as the primary routes for merchants, travelers, and messengers journeying southward into the heart of the Kharolis range.

These roads are often little more than narrow trails carved into the mountainsides, requiring caution even in favorable weather. During the warmer months, caravans and traders make regular use of these passages, bringing goods and news between distant communities.

When winter arrives, however, the mountains become far less welcoming. Heavy snowfall frequently blankets the passes, and fierce winds can drive drifts deep enough to block entire roads. Travelers caught in sudden storms may find themselves stranded for days, while avalanches and falling rock are constant dangers. As a result, many settlements carefully stock supplies before the cold season begins, knowing that mountain travel may become impossible until the spring thaw. Closest to the town of Solace stands Prayer's Eye Peak, a prominent landmark visible from many miles away.

Rising above the surrounding ridges, the mountain is known for its distinctive shape and commanding view of the surrounding countryside. Local legends claim that travelers who pause upon its slopes and offer a quiet prayer will find guidance or protection on their journeys. Whether such tales hold any truth is uncertain, but the peak remains a respected and familiar sight to the people of Abanasinia, standing silent watch over the lands below.
